One of the best oils to regenerate skin tissues. It aids cleansing of skin and improves skin's complexion. It can be used to soothe burns, blisters and scars, and is especially good on mature aging skin,
Carrot oil is obtained by macerating carrots in vegetal oil. It is rich in vitamins B, C, D and E and contains over 600 carotenoids (powerful antioxidants), the most important being beta-carotene, which our body converts into active vitamin A.
Carrot oil has many beneficial and regenerative skin properties and can be added to beauty masks, moisturizing creams and body lotions.
It stimulates skin cells growth and renewal and maintains the elasticity of skin, helping it stay soft, smooth and young looking.
It also has considerable skin repairing abilities and is known to sooth and prevent irritations, as well as to heal dry, chapped and cracked skin.
Beta carotene antioxidant properties can help skin resist the damaging effects of the sun’s ultraviolet rays and combat the formation of free radicals, which cause premature aging. It can also enhance suntan, by increasing the production of melanin, a pigment that determines our skin color.
Carrot oil is therefore widely used in many sun creams and lotions – it protects skin and accelerates and prolongs suntan.
To enhance the well being of the skin before and after tanning, add some carrot oil to your regular body lotion or shower gel, or take it in capsule form to prepare your skin for sun exposure.
Carrot oil has many beneficial nutrients for our hair, including beta carotene and vitamin E, which make of it an excellent conditioner.
Beta carotene converts into active vitamin A inside our body, which is essential to maintain hair and skin healthy. Vitamin A also helps our body produce sebum, a natural oil emitted from our pores that keeps our scalp moist and prevents our hair from drying out and becoming brittle and fragile.
Vitamin E, instead, promotes hair growth, protects scalp and hair cells from damage and prevents hair loss.
With its high content of these vitamins A and E, carrot oil is very efficient in nourishing hair and in maintaining it shiny and soft. It has the capability to strengthen weak hair and help it grow stronger, as well as to moisturize dry scalp and seal and prevent split ends.
To nourish your scalp, soften your hair and prevent breakage, warm up a small amount of carrot oil, rub it delicately into your scalp and to spread it evenly over your hair, from roots to ends. Let it stay for 1 hour, than rinse and shampoo. You can also apply a few drops of carrot oil directly onto split ends.
Beta carotene does not only have extremely positive effects on our skin and hair, but also some very important health benefits. It helps detoxify liver and blood and reinforces the immune system, but one of its most important functions consists in protecting and improving eyesight.
Our liver transforms Beta carotene into Vitamin A (also called retinol), which is a vitamin that is highly concentrated in the eye retina and essential for good night vision. Vitamin A is a structural component of visual purple, which is a biological pigment of the retina that helps prevent night blindness and weak vision and enables eyes to adapt to the darkness.
The lack of vitamin A may have dangerous consequences for our eyes, such as eye fatigue, sensitivity to light, and dry eyelids.
