Rosacea - how to get it under control

Rosacea - also known as rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin disease. It appears in both genders – in men as well as women. Rosacea occurs mainly in people with sensitive and fair skin. Typical symptoms of rosacea include redness in the central part of the face, which is often accompanied by stinging and burning. The skin on the cheeks, forehead and nose appears thicker than the rest of the skin on the face and small dilated blood vessels form. Other accompanying signs are pustules and inflammatory bumps. However, blackheads do not form, which are a typical manifestation of acne.

Do you have redness on your face or do you look like you're blushing? You are not alone. Rosacea is a condition that can be difficult to manage because many of its causes are either unknown or difficult to specify and the ways it manifests vary greatly among individual patients. Symptoms of rosacea can last weeks to months and can completely disappear and reappear in the future.

Although there is no cure for rosacea, proper treatment can reduce symptoms and signs, as well as reduce the frequency of occurrence.

Right now, April is rosacea awareness month, so we bring you a few tips about this disease and how to cope with it.

Some known causes and triggers of rosacea

There are several factors that patients with rosacea may encounter daily and which can cause and worsen symptoms of rosacea. While some factors – such as drinking alcohol and eating spicy food – can be completely avoided by changing lifestyle. Others – such as stress, sun exposure, extreme temperature changes, wind and physical exertion – may be much more difficult, if not impossible, to avoid.

Development of skin disease

Rosacea begins with redness in the central part of the face. This is because blood vessels dilate near the surface of the skin. Subsequently, visible vessels form on the nose and cheeks. The skin may be irritated due to stinging and burning. Another stage of rosacea is a condition similar to acne, as pustules appear on the skin. Some people with rosacea also have irritation around the eye area, styes form and inflammation of the conjunctiva occurs. In the most severe cases of rosacea, the skin can thicken and excess tissue forms. This often happens in the nose area, which then looks larger.

Alleviating symptoms and treatment

General treatment of rosacea consists, in addition to basic treatment, of using products with UV factor of at least 30 and more. On sunny days, it's up to factor 50. Sun exposure is ranked among the triggers and also among the provocative factors of this disease. This is confirmed by the typical location on the face, which is most exposed to sunlight.

Choosing the right care for extremely sensitive skin with rosacea can be a tough nut to crack, but we still have a few tips.

In cooperation with Petra - IG @petrasvabikova from the website skozounatrh.sk we select suitable products for the most sensitive types of skin that suffer from rosacea.

Our motto is SKINPOSITIVITY.

The approach to skin care was created with the aim of promoting awareness of true skin beauty. Beauty as it is, in its imperfect perfection. With respect to the natural rhythms of life.

Skinpositivity says this: Skin does not define us.

Every skin deserves care and love considering its structure, tone, brightness and number of rashes. Among the basic and essential steps in skin care is its cleansing.

Cleansing

Two-sided wipes during skin cleansing are a good helper on how to cleanse the skin and in the last step you will easily see if the wipe remained really clean.

Tonics

In the next step after cleansing, we draw attention to tonics - a proven and beloved Essence toner by Pyunkang Yul or soothing Cica toner by COSRX. In the latest Calming line by Pyunkang Yul you will find deeply hydrating toner with mild composition and low pH for sensitive skin.

Exfoliation

To remove dead cells from the skin, we recommend using a gentle Calm Down exfoliant by Geek. If in addition to rosacea you also struggle with a greasier T-zone, then to balance sebum, aPad by Geek or Calming Moisture Barrier Cream from the mentioned soothing line by Pyunkang can help.
